Seminar:

Provoking, Taking, Striking — exploring Joachim Meyer’s classification of cuts through the dussack’s secondary cuts

This is a conceptual seminar. We use the dussack’s secondary cuts—Entrüsthauw (Offended Cut), Bochhauw (Knocking Cut), and Weckerhauw (Whacker Cut)—to make Meyer’s core idea tangible: every cut is either provoking, taking, or striking. We’ll explore how this principle is anchored in Meyer’s system using one or two plays from the dussack section of his book. The focus is on understanding, not completeness. This seminar is designed to be interactive, with concepts explored through practical fencing actions rather than lecture only.
